PEEP THIS: The Black Magic Cinema Camera – Release Model In-Action

For the last few months I’ve been blogging about the emergence of the new class of “Super-chip” (my term) video cameras, which I would basically describe as dedicated prosumer video cameras that have image chips that are roughly the equivalent of DSLR imaging chips.

One of the most buzzed about cameras in this new category is the Black Magic Cinema Camera.  Why all the buzz? – It’s got a 2.5K sensor, records onto a built-in SSD (solid state drive), uses interchangeable EF-mount lenses, has 13 stops of dynamic range and costs only $3000.00.  (Can anybody say “DSLR-killer”?)

My man, Rick Young,  put an actual release model through it’s paces for his new Movie Machine website.   (Rick’s a veteran cameraman and a fellow film instructor, author and DV-guru type who was actually one of the first people to interview me on video several years ago.)

Check out Rick’s brand new extensive video review of the Black Magic Cinema Camera which is scheduled for release in just two weeks here:
