PEEP THIS: Sundance's "An Oversimplification of Her Beauty" Now Playing in Theaters

Back in January I dropped a post and put up a trailer for this film that originally screened at Sundance and now it’s starting it’s official U.S. theatrical tour.  If you are in N.Y.C this week then you are fortunate enough to be in the city that’s premiering the theatrical release of Terence Nance’s new multi-media film Oversimplification of Her Beauty.

I first met Terence many years ago when he was still a fine-arts student at NYU and as always, it’s truly inspiring to watch someone work harder than they ever have before for years on end and come out with a great end product that gets the attention of audiences and the industry. (As you’re probably well aware, it doesn’t always turn out this way for most filmmakers- even after years of hard work.)

Terence is  a true renaissance man: multi-talented, creative and most notably – an original artistic voice, so it’s of little wonder that celebrity names like Jay-Z and Dream Hampton have now attached their names to it.    But don’t just take me and Jay-Z’s word for it, read the dope review by any of the following little-known media outlets:

The New York Times
Hollywood Reporter
Village Voice
Rotten Tomatoes

…We always bitch that they don’t play enough new, original indie films in the theaters.  Well, this is one such film that I think is  really worth getting out in-person and buying a ticket to a theater to support it.  Don’t wait for it to come on cable or to Netflix.  (If you don’t go see the few good and original indies that DO come to your town, you can’t really complain about the lack of them.)

Guaranteed inspiration for independent filmmakers.
