HOT APPS: Clip Sketch is a FREE New Tool for Filmmakers

On the Double Down Film Show and this blog, I have long touted the amazing usefulness of iPads for filmmakers.  Apart from just viewing and screening high-quality video, there are a growing number of practical tools for filmmakers that can streamline the job of filmmaking. Case-in-point,  I just downloaded a sweet little practical iPad app for filmmakers from the developers of Celtx called Clip Sketch. It’s a simple tool for sketching out location diagrams, blocking shots and even storyboarding. The best part of all is that it’s completely FREE!

Like any good app it has two chief appeals- 1) It’s simple, but powerful.  and 2) It’s practical.  Here are the hilights:

  • Includes 600+ prestocked images including cameras, figures, furniture, etc.
  • Images are scalable and can be rotated freely
  • You can add custom lines and shapes as well
  • Sketches can be saved and  exported as .pdf, .png or .svg files

All-in-all this is one very practical and functional little app that may give some of the other storyboard apps a run for their money, especially when they’re giving it away.  Kudos and mad thanx to the good people at Celtx who’ve been creating great free tools for guerrilla filmmakers everywhere for a good minute now.

Download It from the iTunes Store
