Denzel Washington Breaks Down the Key to Achieving Your Filmmaking Dreams

I know it’s been a long minute since I last put up a blog post here. I actually have a few dozen things I’ve wanted to write about and share for some time now, but had my nose to the grindstone completely revamping and updating the brand-new 2nd Edition of my first book, The Shut Up and Shoot Documentary Guide and writing and shooting a bunch of new online video courses with the good people at lynda.com.

I’ll be posting more on those 2 projects soon and putting up some new video tutorials and updating the camera guide with some of the latest cameras and gear from NAB 2014, but for now I thought it most appropriate to break my long non-blogging streak with this inspirational message from Denzel Washington that I think speaks to the very core of what it means to be a creative artist and to struggle with the all the self-doubt and search for meaning in what we do that goes along with that.

I hope this bit of priceless wisdom moves you as much as it did me to refocus and double down on the path we’ve chosen, knowing that it is exactly where we should be and that the struggles we endure and the work we do has real value in the world.

(Mad thanx to actor, Larry Powell, for sharing this intimate inspirational moment on FB.)
